Ever wish you were someone else? Something else? Anyone or anything other than the being of You which has now been relegated to a bunch of initials ending in the letter Q? Ever wish you were a bot?
A.I., as in Artificial Intelligence, is another bunch of letters that spells trouble. Artificial is now official, and may wind up replacing our humanity with a kind of vanity that could drive us to insanity. The vanity is in our being so enamoured with our reflection in that seductive pool of discovery that, like Narcissus, we fall completely in and lose our objectivity, our sense of humanity.
Ironically we seem to be running from our true identity – the very thing we so desperately crave. And with the letters of our aggressive alpha-bet, we hedge our bets on the fact that asserting our identity with an “official” vocabulary will offer some measure of validity and credibility to the world out there, which in turn creates a safe space for the world in here.
If only our abc’s had taught us properly about these special letters which have come to stand for us when it appears the rest of the world can’t stand us – or won’t stand beside us. If only we didn’t need the letters or the artificial as crutches to justify our innate right to be. If only our clever creativity was balanced with a sense of generosity so we could relax knowing that we’re safe to exist “as is”.
In this month of June, and the Julys and decades and eons of our lives, let these letters of LGBTQ stand for something new: Loving Giving Beings Trying, Quintessentially. Yes, let’s try quintessentially … to reword the language of self-doubt and teach ourselves to spell who we truly are from the “insight out”.
Did you ever wish someone looked at you like you were the most precious thing ever?
Did you ever wish that we never needed a #metoo movement because the Art of The Flirt had never gone out of style?
Did you ever wish you could reclaim an innocence that doesn’t see separation and boundaries so much as boundless connection worth trying to break down walls for?
Did you ever wish that being Human was a little less harsh and a lot more forgiving?
Remarkably the animal kingdom (of which we are a part, not the CEO of) has the wherewithal to defy their instinct to perceive another as Prey, in favour of Compadre. It seems that Play is an important part of sussing out one another, with the titillation of healthy stress that comes from engaging those who seem a bit unlike us. We are as leery of the Unknown as we are drawn to it.
So maybe we need to play more … to tickle each other’s fancy rather than mock it due to a wounded longing so pervasive it uses negative attention to quench its thirst for meaningful connection.
Maybe Leaders of Nations should first convene their G7000 meetings with a five minute Tickle Session. Once the sidesplitting laughter has upended splitting sides, the business of competition and division can once again chime (will it?).
Since when did the Human Race erase the human and replace it with race? Since when did Ego borne of Fear become sovereign ruler of Choice; choice about how to perceive what we experience or see (a uniquely attributed gifted to the human species yet often trashed)?
We’ve insulated ourselves within a world of categories to offset a primal pain of rejection … a pain which lives in every single human and thrives on multiplying to insure our perpetually divided states.
The misnomer is in thinking we need to sacrifice our unique individual for that of the Whole. That’s why we go ballistic on social media. Social MEdia. Because the desperate entertainment of hearing and seeing our selves vis a vis others is overriding innertainment.
Life is the whole, within which there are multiple species. A symphony is the whole, within which there are multiple instrumental sounds. Flower is the whole, within which there are a gazillion varieties. We are the whole, within which there are multiple Me’s. But when most parents themselves have never learned the magnitude of this inherent truth – nor sufficiently integrated it – how will it be imparted to their offspring to grow internally … and then exponentially?
Let’s parent our planet by parenting our person, with the understanding that the gaping hole in our global soul is aching for us to make us Whole. We don’t have to love one another (yet). Just respect the differences that reflect that same range of colour which also lives within. Once we grok that maybe we can rock the planet … with a Party for Humanity where the guest list is Everybody celebrating Unity and Diversity, Community and Individuality. Maybe then we can get televisionary, with Synchronistory!
Chill, Planet Person, and enjoy the show.
