On and on and on it goes, with polarities and splits and things to make sure we know that as much as we may be similar, we’re also verrrry different – and yet the same. And yet unique. And yet One. And yet individual (person, nation, continent). And yet community.
Individuality? Unity? So which one is it? Because the ping-pong of this sing-song is driving us crazy.
Maybe you live in Brexit. Or Cameroon. Or Ohio. But oh how I hope that the sky over there stays where it is, because my air belongs to my nation and my people and my ideas and language and food and friends and family and so on …
How can you slice air and divide it (fairly)? Or Water? But in fact we’re doing this. And doing so might one day undo us all.
What if we’re not who we think we are, or who others tell us we are? What if we’re not Either Or but More? AND? Should “and” rob us of our unique attributes, our specialness? No more than roses and tulips. Yet for some reason Human Nature’s ego has yet to understand how to gently bow to its intrinsic life partner, Nature, and grok that we’re all one species (like “Flower”) within which are wonderful varieties (lilies, cacti, etc) … each thriving in a different climate which allows them to flourish in their specific loveliness. Some need arid conditions, as water will kill them. Some need shade, as sunlight will wilt them. Some need the cool and some need the heat.
But since when did one flower force another to adapt to its fragrance within the Flower species – or force it not to if it wanted to organically infuse something new?
Humankind is different. Humankind must have it all divided up and doled out in appropriate doses advantageous to whatever that nation decrees by virtue of its leader’s ego – or the almighty competitive collective ego-system in defiance of our natural ecosystem. Humankind has learned to override instinct with intellect. And to be trained not to like certain humans in favour of others. And to dismiss the human closest to us with whom we share an intimate lifetime. Our Self. Self is constantly sabotaged by a barrage of input from billions of other Selves who are mostly un-attuned to a vibration we all resonate to – independent of “liking” one another.
Humankind is a warring nation unto itself, gripped in opposing impulses of Community versus ego-invested Individuality. Which fuels duality.
But what if Man is bits of all and then some? What if the smallest granules of Me are also You and She and He and They and We – and that none of this diminishes us individually? How can we help ourselves to soften these edges just enough that we can all co-exist without imposing our embedded fear of identity loss?
Genetics tells us that about 99% of everyone is the same. So in that infinitesimal 1% or our 7.whatever billions does the fate of our ego remain. And still more stirring: what if all these bits of “us” scattered about Planet E – Planet WE – are part of a still greater universal dust that seeded us when Earth was formed from fragments of explosive star matter gazillions of years before? Would that put this fractured notion of WE into a more acceptable visual of Humanity?
Our Global Identity Crisis is at a slippery slope. Tech Connect has also spawned Disconnect – and in this “prearranged marriage” of Life On Earth there surfaces understandably long-held cultural resentments that have further escalated, exacerbated by social media which casts it all in full view of the troubled side of our “Global Selfie”.
A key element to the National, Cultural, and Global Identity Crisis is sensitivity. Sensitivity to History. Sensitivity to Community. Sensitivity to Individuality. Sensitivity to Diversity. Sensitivity to the complex human that lives within our Humanity … And becoming aware that our sensitivity to our collective naivety about the world around us – and within us – is a learning curve being foisted upon everyone worldwide, consciously or otherwise.
If cultures and individuals within those cultures were truly appreciated and even honoured – both within their cultures and also on the global stage … if governments led their nations with power fuelled by grace and a loving hand like the benevolent parent figures most of us have never had … perhaps that would ease the tensions. Perhaps we’d be less sensitive to nuance as offensive and more adaptable to one another because we know we’re inherently loved and valued.
Self Worth multiplied by 7.2 billion. This is the caring theme woven within a future televisionary event hoping to inspire appreciation of who we are individually, and collectively, simultaneously.
Synchronistory is a global Party for Humanity where the guest list is Every-being, celebrating our multicultural worldwide history – live, from the seven continents. But like any good host-ess knows, a great party is only as good as its guest list. And this Planet’s a mess. The Global Body is ill. From the Environment to…… Continue Reading
