“... though its machines aren’t intended for military or defense applications.”
Hmmm … is it the word “intended” that’s dubious or “military or defense applications” - or just the lack of substantiated evidence in this article to indicate controls & regulations are in place?
With 2 major wars ongoing (Russia & Ukraine / Gaza & Israel) ... not to mention other warring nation states (and emotional states) … and with defence spending skyrocketing (both terrestrial and space), let’s hear about more of the stopgaps to ensure human ingenuity doesn’t outpace itself at the expense of its humanity.
In a sense, we have a love-hate relationship with our human state. Not because we’re pursuing the frontiers of innovative new technology nor the realms of the universe. Our wonderfully exploratory nature is an inherent part of our life force, our urge to procreate or simply to ... create.
HOW we do it. HOW MUCH we do it. WHEN & WHY we do it. This seems to be the measure of an aware human species versus a species that dares itself to the edges and takes the rest of us with it.
Maybe human beings want a divorce from their humanity. Sound extreme? What do you think? Are you enjoying your current experience of being human - and if so, why? Maybe it's a conversation-starter worth having across this planet.
